KBYU-TV Strikes Again

Loop holes are being hurdled by BYU’s athletic department in an attempt to bring more TV games via satellite and cable as the MWC’s broadcast package continues to be sullied in stalled negotiations.

Airing Saturday’s BYU basketball game at Boise State is another example of a game not broadcast by MWC TV partners CSTV, Versus or The Mountain got delivered to BYU fans.

Non-league road ames are not part of the MWC TV deal. The home team usually retains TV rights for the event. Neutral court and tourney games are also available. KBYU-TV has jumped on the opportunities this past month.

On Saturday, BYU broadcast work out a TV rights deal with Boise State to air the game on BYU-TV and KBYU similar to what was done in other situations like the Portland game.

Boy, am I glad I didn’t have to cover a bowl game in Boise this week. And having been to Memphis multiple times this time of year for the Liberty Bowl and BYU basketball, add that place to the list. Whew, Viva Las Vegas.
