Hawaii interested in Anae?

Coaching at the University of Hawaii takes a special personality who knows the Island culture. The replacement for June Jones will earn more than a million a year.

Is Robert Anae’s name in the mix?

According to BYU athletic director, Anae is certainly capable and he has the resume. But no one from the University of Hawaii has contacted Holmoe asking permission to talk to the Cougar offensive coordinator.

Hawaii is in kind of bind. Not only is Jones on his way to SMU but the athletic director Herman Frazier got fired/resigned. The Rainbow athletic department appears in disarray after a series of mistakes led to Jones leaving the school.

Apparently Frazier failed to ask for enough of his BCS bowl allotment of tickets and could not provide enough for the demand. He also got on the job to try and keep Jones way too late and failed to make a solid case with the school leadership and state, including the governor.

Holmoe aid any time one of BYU’s coaches wants to move on, he’ll be supportive and encouraging and will do his best to present the choices and what BYU can provide as well.

Anae’s name was not one of those mentioned by Jones as a potential successor. Norm Chow might be a good fit but he also might be far to expensive for the Warriors.

I don’t see Anae moving on any time soon. He just moved back to Utah where his wife’s family lives 25 minutes away.
