No schedule announcement today, player suspended

BYU is not prepared to announce it’s schedule at this time, according to an official announcement by Jeff Reynolds of the meda relations department.

At the right time, it will be announced.

Apparently, all the speculation, the anticipating, the idea among the press that there would be an annoucement forthcoming Friday was premature. As mentioned in an earlier blog, a Friday announcement was expected by our reporter Jeff Call, after attending the Hill press conference Thursday. The Tribune actually wrote a small piece saying Friday was the day, as we all anticipated.

Perhaps because of the blogging and speculation why, the athletic department felt a need to respond and get everyone off edge. Some of us had planned afternoons around covering it.

Read the press release to the Fourth Estate that covers BYU:

“As you are aware, there has been a great deal of speculation regarding the timing for the release of BYU’s 2008 non-conference football schedule. The athletics department is not prepared to make an announcement at this time. Media will be notified via e-mail as soon as the non-conference schedule has been finalized.”

In another announcement by the football office, defensive lineman Kyle Luekenga has been suspended indefinitely for breaking team rules.
