BYU-UNLV Pregame focus on center
Trent Plaisted should have a good game tonight and if he does, the rest of the BYU team will follow.
Plaisted will go up against Joe Darger, a 6-7, 225 pound small forward known for his outside shooting. Darger, out of Riverton, Utah, has been forced to play center for the Rebels because UNLV lost two big men earlier this year. The first choice for center, seven-foot freshman Beas Hamaga did not meet eligibility standards by the NCAA and was forced to sit out this season. Another player, 6-10 junior Emanuel Adeife was dismissed from the team after one game.
“I’ve just got to get in there, work for early position and not let Plaisted get in position,” Darger told the Las Vegas Review Journal. “If he gets the catch down low, it’s going to be hard to stop him. It should be a battle.”
If the Rebels beat the Cougars, it will due to 3-point shooting. This is how the Rebels live and die on their home court.
