Seeds not high but rank as MWC best
UNLV and BYU were clearly the best teams in the Mountain West this past year.
But playing in a relatively weak conference, they could not climb above or beyond what they earned. Oh, they may have garnered a seven seed but with both No. 8, it represents the best pair the league has ever had in 20 appearances since the MWC was formed.
The two No. 8 rankings mark the two highest seeds the MWC hs ever received in the same NCAA Tournament. BYU retained a spot in the national rankings at No. 24.
This is the 16th NCAA appearance for UNLV while the Cougars are making No. 23. New Mexico and SDSU got NIT bids. The Lobos will play Cal, a team Utah defeated and SDSU will travel to Florida.
The Cougars will leave on Tuesday for Anaheim where they will practice on Wednesday in the Honda Center and then go through a series of press interviews. This will be the next time the media has access to players and Dave Rose.
