Michael Reed out 2-4 weeks
Senior receiver Michael Reed will be out 2 to 4 weeks to heal a meniscus tear in his right knee, according to Bronco Mendenhall, who received a medical report Wednesday evening.
Reed suffered the injury in the UCLA game.
Reed tried to practice with the injury this week but determined Wednesday evening to undergo arthroscopic surgery to give him the best opportunity to heal and return to full strength.
I have had this surgery, done by the same doctor, Kirt Kimball. Reed will have his surgery on Thursday. I was up walking around immediate after the surgery and while there was a little pain, I felt pretty good in about a week.
In Reed’s place, we saw Spencer Hafoka and Luke Ashworth get his reps. Also, in today’s practice, freshman O’Neil Chambers benefited with more playing time in some formations.
Reed has 16 catches in three games, third on the team. The Cougars do have a bye week after playing Wyoming and there is a good chance the game against the Cowboys is the only one he may miss.
