Light Monday Workout for No. 11 BYU

Bronco Mendenhall took the Cougars through a light Monday workout and he’ll repeat this format at least three more times before the Cougars play Utah State after a bye week and no game this Saturday.

Tight end Dennis Pitta did not practice today. Nobody would explain what injury he has, but it is likely not serious. “It’s football and everybody is sore and hurting a little at this stage in the season,” is how his coach, Robert Anae explained Pitta’s situation.

Staff members said Pitta wss one of many who would miss some time during the bye week to get healed up. Pitta was lightly treated on the sidelines following a second-half play in which he was on the bottom of a pile up. As noted in Saturday’s post-game blog, he had an issue under his left shoulder pad following that play.

He did return to see some action in the Wyoming game after the incident.

Other players on the mend besides starting WR Michael Reed are receiver Spencer Hafoka (foot contusion) and defensive back G Pittman (thigh contusion).
