BYU drops one place in AP and Coach poll

It may have been expected, as a team like USC begins to rebound and be forgiven for a loss at Oregon State: BYU drops one place in both polls released on Sunday.

What this tells me is the majority of the voters gave little credence, if any at all, to the Utah State win or the performance of the Cougars in Logan. It really didn’t matter.

What the poll means is USC began to rebound. Voters who watch the Pac-10, gave them some leeway for the road loss. We’ll see a similar rebound in weeks to come with Florida, if Urban Meyer’s team continues to win.

Another thing this means is the Cougars retain a ranking higher than Utah in two of the three human polls. This will be balanced out by the computer polls, which mathematically will pitch the Utes a few more points due to strength of schedule at this stage of the season.
