Wounded answer Monday's call

BYU players who are injury challenged were on the field Monday for practice.

Linebacker David Nixon and cornerback Scott Johnson didn’t miss a beat during Monday’s light practice indoors.

Linebackers Grant Nelson and Terrance Hooks, who have not been added to the active roster yet, were also working out. Nelson, who had surgery before the season, has received a complete clearance to play from his surgeon. He lost some weight and the training staff is carefully bringing him along to get his strength back to game shape. He will be capable of playing in a couple of weeks, according to the trainer.

Hooks, who had surgery to repair his knee cap, may be further along to challenge for some time at middle linebacker.
