Pregame: Lots of blue in Fort Worth

Having a Thursday night game versus a Saturday game will cost the Frogs about 8,000 fans from this commuter school located in the metroplex, according to school officials.

It’s tough for TCU fans to fight the traffic to make a weeknight game on a work day.

On te other hand, BYU fans have turned out to this game as an army. I spoke to fans from Shreveport, La., El Paso, Houston, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio. You could see BYU fans collecting at parking lots within a two-mile radius of the stadium and there could be 15,000 to 20,000 here tonight.

I saw former Cougar D-lineman Stan Raass, who flew out to this game with his wife and kids from Lehi. “It’s UEA weekend, this is a big game and we had to be here,” said Raass.

I asked Raass, in his opinion, if BYU would play better than they have in recent weeks and he said he believed they would. He said it is tough for a team to stay up and focused for a while season and every game every week. “You get up for some games more than others, even if you don’t want to. I have to think this is one game BYU’s players really want to play and they’ll come out and make every play count. If they don’t, I’d be disappointed, but that’s the way it is in football and tonight is the kind of game you want to be a part of. It’s big.:”
