BYU needs to carry weight

Steve Fairchild’s CSU Rams just engineered a nifty comeback win over Fresnow State to give the MWC a 1-0 bowl mark this after noon.

It’s time the Cougars did their part in carrying the league’s banner. TCU gets a chance against Boise State in what is being labeled as a marquee bowl game.

A BYU loss to Arizona would definitely be a set back for the Cougars and the league, even if 3.5 point underdogs. Last year the MWC had one of the best bowl records of any conference.

Jeff Call and I stopped just short of the stadium to fill up with gas and found some scalpers selling tickets. The guy said he had two 40-yard tickets he’d sell for $100 each.

Back to the CSU win. Not much defense played in that game — in fact it was AWOL on both sides. When we left the hotel room, Fresno State just got an interception and we called them done. Missed the comeback, but folks here at Sam Boyd said it was quick and decisive. Nice win for the Rams, who finish with seven wins in Fairchild’s “rebuilding” season.
