Jackson Emery to test everything today

Following his crash with the floor in last night’s BYU win over Tulsa, Jackson Emery expects to test out his head and limbs at today’s practice session under the guidance of trainer Rob Ramos.

Emery took a brutal fall to the floor attempting to haul down a rebound in last night’s game. He fell on his back and landed primarily on his elbows as his head snapped back and hit the floor.

At the time, he had a tremendous headache, and did not return to play in the game, although he was cleared to do so. Today he will have stitches in his elbow to close up a gash.

“My head doesn’t hurt at all today, nothing like it did last night,” said Emery. “The plan is to go to practice and run through drills and see what the reaction is, if I have any symptoms such as a headache.”

Right now Emery’s head injury isn’t considered a concussion but that diagnosis could be changed depending on how he feels after practicing. If he gets a headache or is nausea, those could be signs that his bonk on the head was more serious than determined after the game.

Right now, Emery is jacked up about playing Saturday. “We’re all excited. It was a big win for us last night on the road, we want to keep it going.”

The Cougars host nationally ranked Wake Forest at 6 p.m. on Saturday. BYU folks say there are approximately 2,000 tickets remain unsold for the game.
