Wake Forest-BYU pregame

It’ll be a sellout and the Marriott Center will be rocking.

we’re inside an hour from the tipoff between 11-1 BYU and 12-0 Wake Forest, the No. 6 ranked team in the country.

I was at Wake Forest a year ago when the Deacons ran the Cougars off the court. It was a freshman-laden team a year ago and they should be better this time around.

Except for then freshman Jimmer Fredette, all the other Cougars played like deer in headlights. Wake Forest is extremely quick and one of BYU’s weaknesses (offensive rebounds) is Wake’s strength. The Cougars will have to hit threes and hit the boards in order to keep pace.

It will be interesting to see if BYU’s defensive prowess (better than a year ago) can slow down Wake.

I’m in the press room and just talked to former BYU player Misho Ostarcevic who lives in Kaysville and is a scout for the New York Knicks. He’s here to see about five of Wake’s players.

Also of note, practically all the Utah Jazz staff is here to scout this game.
