Track: History made at NCAA indoors

Still here in Las Vegas covering the championship game for the paper but got word of a milestone by the track team in College Station, Texas.

If you care…

BYU freshman standout Lacey Cramer, just won the National Championship in the 800-meter run. The Cougars earned a record 32 points at this year’s Indoor Championships. It is the only time BYU has had two National Champions in the same meet.

BYU’s loss to SDSU here might be put in perspective by the selection committee who will post their designs on Sunday afternoon. The Cougars won a championship, posted a good RPI, beat SDSU twice and should get no worse than a No. 8 seed. There is a small chance BYU could earn a 7.

We shall see.

Halftime of Utah-SDSU game and the Aztecs have led practically the entire first half. Lawrence Borah hit a buzzer beater before intermission to cut SDSU’s lead to 20-18.

Both teams struggling from the field. Utah is 7 of 26 and the Aztecs 8 of 25.
