John Beck to head former BYU player summer camp for youth

John Beck is up to his ankles in competing for playing time and a spot in the QB pecking order with the Baltimore Ravens. But when he gets a break before fall camp begins, he will join some former Cougar players including NFL linebacker Bryan Kehl in a summer camp for youth.

Beck and Cameron Jensen, two co-captains whose leadership proved key in bringing BYU football back to winning conference championships after the worst losing seasons in 40 years, are key figures in presenting this camp called the APX Next Level Football camp.

Others involved besides those two and Kehl are Nate Meikle, TE Johnny Harline, and others.

“What we’re doing, is presenting a camp that emphasizes the most important aspect of what these summer camps do for young players,” said Beck.

“We, as players, have spent a lot of time attending these camps while growing up and we have designed these camps to utilize the most important things we’ve learned. Camps have a lot of information, some of it useful, some of it social and we’ve decided to use the valuable time at hand to really focus on the things that will enable the player to take it to the next level.”

The camp will be July 14-15 at Provo High School’s football fields and is for youth from the third to 12th grades. There is a similar camp planed for the St. George area.
