Corner Brian Logan injured in Saturday's BYU practice

One day after junior college transfer cornerback Brian Logan was talked about as the starting field corner against Oklahoma next Saturday, the former Foothill JC player was injured.

Bronco Mendenhall told reporters after Saturday’s practice Logan appeared to have broken his hand. “It looks that way right now from what we could tell. It looked like he had a broken hand,” said Mendenhall.

With the muscle pull that’s kept Robbie Buckner out of full contact practices, the Cougars had been working with four corners includling starting boundary corner Brandon Bradley, Logan and transfers Corby Eason and Lee Aguirre.

Mendenhall said he worked Aquirre and Eason into playing the field corner position and it looks like Aguirre, who was solid behind Bradley on the boundary side will be the most likely candidate to replace Logan.

Where this hurts is Logan, albeit small, is a tremendous hitter and plays very physical. He has also spent the most time in BYU’s system of any of the newcomers. If Buckner, who was No. 1 when fall camp began, somehow heals up in days to come, that would be a plus for the group of corners.
