Former BYU players stage football camp
It keeps growing and the number of former stars who are supporting it continues to built, this year adding former Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer.
The Next Level Training camp for youth added a recent batch of Cougar graduates Max Hall, Dennis Pitta, and Jan Jorgensen as camp aides.
“The support we’ve had is fantastic,” said Cameron Jensen of former players. In addition to Detmer, Raven’s quarterback John Beck, Bryan Kehl, Chad Lewis, David Nixon, Curtis Brown, Jonny Harline, Reno Mahe and Fahu Tahi have also committed to participate. “We expect to add others and will announce it soon,” said Jensen.
The camp will be July 14 for grades 4-6 and July 15 for 7th through 12th graders at Provo High School. On July 19, the camp will be in St. George for grades 4 through 12.
The former Cougars say they hope to help young players and instill in them what they have learned throughout their college and professional careers.
“We feel we have learned a lot of valuable things in college and during our careers that we want to share,” said John Beck.
“There are a lot of little things that are not hard but can help you as you move up to the next level of football, to junior high to high school and to college. We want to help make a difference for players as they get ready for their next level of football.”
Jensen said there are special discounts for high school teams and little league teams. The camp in St. George may not have all the coaches and counselors available that the Provo location will experience.
