BYU-SDSU: Can't remember atmosphere like that one

It’s been a long time since the Marriott Center held the kind of energy witnessed Wednesday night in BYU’s win over SDSU.

I started watching games in the Marriott Center when it opened and there are a few games (St. Joseph’s, Utah-BYU, Notre Dame, Wake Forest) that had a lot of electricity and noise. None of them matched what I saw Wednesday.

The editor just asked me to assemble a Top 10 list of celebrity and media comments about that game and the performance of Jimmer Fredette, who is taking the nation by storm. That will be posted shortly. Funny thing is, just when you get 15 or 20 candidates, another 10 crop up. It’s an hourly thing.

Wednesday’s game had some interesting visitors, many of whom I’ve met and others I have never seen in person. These include writers and editors from CBS Sports, com (Gary Parrish), Ken Pomeroy of Kenpomery.com, SI.com writer Kelly Anderson, Jeff Goodman of Foxsports.com, Diamond Leung from ESPN.com, Jeffery Martin of the Houston Chronicle, a crew from ESPN All Access and a photographer from Sports Illustrated doing some clean up work for a piece on Fredette.

Because of the Internet, Twitter, cable TV and Sports Center, this game with BYU and SDSU may have been the most widely covered and commented basketball game in MWC, WAC and BYU history.

If I’m wrong, I’d like to hear which game beat it.
